Welcome to Rooted Joy Photography! My name is Carrie. I am a family & wedding photographer with over 12 years of experience based in McKinney, Texas. I am also a mother of two incredibly beautiful little boys! We love our living room dance parties, making art, camping & hiking new trails.
I started out as a curious teenager with my entry level Nikon D5000, exploring my home town with friends who played as my portrait models. As the years passed, I gained more experience through photography classes at the Art Institute of Houston, newborn posing safety courses and photographing (almost) anything and everything.
After spending years exploring different genres, I found that my niche truly is lifestyle portraits & intimate weddings. Whether it's a wedding, maternity, newborn or annual family photos, what I love most about lifestyle photography is that it allows for a photojournalistic approach while still offering guidance with gentle posing. My goal is to offer posing suggestions while allowing you to do what feels natural to you. I really love witnessing the connections and precious moments between families & lovers, and I strive to capture those moments in a way that tells a unique story.
I don't want to just take your pictures, I want to create a meaningful relationship with you and your loved ones. I want to be fully in the present moment, seeing you for who you truly are rather than trying to fit you into trending poses.
